From the beginning of the twentieth century, the Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum contributed to the rediscovery of ancient Asia through major acquisitions in the field of Chinese archeology. At the same time, the museum and the Society of Friends play a pioneering role for Asian artists active in Paris, and bring into the permanent collections modern and contemporary works from China, Japan, Vietnam and Korea.
