VIETNAM, ONE AND MULTIPLE

From June 24 to July 6, 2014, Orangery of the Senate - Jardin du Luxembourg. PARIS.

Vietnam, one and multiple at the Senate Orangery,

On the occasion of the France-Vietnam Year, the Senate Orangery unveils a photo exhibition bringing together two artists, one French, the other Vietnamese, for a cross-look at Vietnam and its fifty-four ethnic groups. In color or black and white, the photographs of Sébastien Laval and Lê Vuong take a benevolent look at the daily life of Vietnamese, from the 1980s to the present day.

If Le Vuong crisscrossed his native country for half a century, the French conquered Vietnam by creating an ethnographic work, made of hundreds of photos of each people: the two photographers thus reveal the 54 faces of Vietnam and the evolution of their customs since the 1980s, increased by population movements during the war.

Also, traditional clothes and headdresses from the Alain Dussarps collection will complete this photographic exhibition, presented by the Association of Franco-Vietnamese Friendship, the General Union of Vietnamese of France and ACOTEC.
