Shimomura Ryōnosuke. The Painter and the Bird

On the occasion of the Japanese summer, the Cernuschi Museum is exhibiting in the painting room a collection of works by Shimomura Ryōnosuke (1923-1998) donated by Shimomura Shizue, the artist's widow, in 2014. A major figure in the artistic avant-garde in post-war Japan and co-founder of the Pan-Real Artistic Association in 1948, the artist strives to reinvent traditional Japanese painting. Nihonga.
