Fastas of a forgotten empire 224-642

For the first time in France, an exhibition is dedicated to the sumptuary art of the Sassanid Empire, a dynasty that ruled Persia for 400 years, from the IIIe century AD until the Muslim conquest
(224 - 642).

It was conceived with the exceptional participation of the Department of Oriental Antiquities of the
Louvre Museum and the exceptional contest of the National Library of France.

The Sassanid Persians (224-642) display their splendor in the windows and on the walls of the Cernuschi Museum. From the confines of the steppes of Central Asia to the borders of the Roman and Byzantine worlds, the empire of rulers descended from Ardashir I have had the testimonies of an art in the service of a powerful state engraved in the rock: sc? nes of investiture, hunting, conquest, in colossal reliefs or in miniature on fine stone seals, on silverware cups. Ambitious images softened by graceful female figures with silk veils. Is there a whole legendary world available today? we. Come and contemplate it.
