Tribute to Park In-Kyung on the occasion of his centenary

On Tuesday, April 28, to celebrate the long shared history between the Cernuschi Museum and Park In-Kyung, the institution organized a birthday celebration in addition to the exhibition of his works in the painting gallery. The artist, who was celebrating his 100th birthday, was accompanied by his son, Lee Young-Se, also a renowned painter.

Éric Lefèbvre, the museum's director, recalled the artist's significant involvement in the Academy of Oriental Painting, founded in 1964 by her husband, Lee Ungno. He mentioned the 2018 exhibition where her works and those of her son were displayed alongside those of Master Lee Ungno. He also cited her role in the creation of the Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon, South Korea.

Eric Lefebvre also thanked Park In-Kyung for his generosity towards the museum with donations of several of his paintings and about a hundred works by Lee Ungno and .

It was a very moving moment, and the artist seemed overjoyed by this exceptional tribute. The event was followed by a pleasant cocktail reception.
