IKEBANA KADO EXHIBITION - Yamamura Goryu School at the Cernuschi Museum

On the occasion of the Heritage Days (17th & 18th September ), the Cernuschi Museum presents a Exceptional Exhibition of Ikebana Kado - Yamamura Goryu School . One of the highest peaks of Ikebana: Japanese floral art, dating back to the seventeenth century, protected and transmitted by the Japanese imperial family

The origin of Ikebana goes back more than a millennium, when the Chinese and Korean custom was introduced to Japan, to offer flowers to the Buddha. Thus the influence of Buddhism allows it to explain the spiritual dimension of this art which allows to discover the stripping, the harmony, the refined expression even the divinity in the floral arrangement symbolizing the sky, the earth and the man, and the complete fusion with the universe.

Fifteen vases adorned with flowers and plants will be presented in the halls of the permanent collections on Saturday and Sunday. A demonstration will take place on Saturday at 15h and 16h30. The bouquets will remain exposed until Sunday, 18h.

The entrance is free.
