Annual cocktail of the Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum

On Tuesday March 26, 2024, the annual cocktail of the Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum brought together a large audience and among them, several Young Friends whose presence was appreciated.

The Friends discovered, first of all, the new exhibition “Reflections of Japan at the turn of modernity - Ukiyo-e and Shin hanga prints from the Paul Tavernier legacy". This exhibition combines works from the Tavernier legacy, in a remarkable state of conservation, with albums of prints, very rarely exhibited due to their fragility, from the collection of Henri Cernuschi. The Tavernier legacy is also rich in modern prints, which testify to the interest shown by collectors in contemporary artistic productions. In the Painting room, they were also able to appreciate the hanging of Contemporary Korean prints  exhibited in rotation until June 9, 2024.

In his speech, the president, René Abate, warmly thanked the corporate sponsor Guerbet, the Antoni Laurent Foundation placed under the aegis of the Fondation de France and the Asia Society Japan, as well as private donors for their generosity and their support, last year, for the association's actions in favor of the museum. He encouraged everyone to mobilize to raise awareness of the Society of Friends and find patronage. Every donation, no matter how small, counts. He then recalled the events and conferences that punctuated the year 2023, as well as the trip to Japan which was a success before passing the floor to Éric Lefebvre, director of the museum, who renewed his thanks to the SAMC for his support. After briefly presenting the next clashes and announcing a Vietnamese autumn, the latter invited the audience to discover and admire the work of Gao Xinjian, dark moon, offered by the association in 2023 as part of its hundredth anniversary.

The atmosphere of the cocktail, held at the feet of the great Buddha of Meguro, was extremely friendly around a nice buffet.
