The work of the young artist Satoko Fujikasa is part of the field of sculptural ceramics. It uses the Shigaraki earth, containing many imperfections in order to give to its surfaces a particular irregularity and relief. This powerful and balanced structure demonstrates a great mastery of clay and a sense of movement rarely achieved in contemporary ceramics. Like other Japanese artists, she is particularly sensitive to environmental issues.
